Position Overview

The Collector is responsible for collecting delinquent tax liabilities for the State of Arizona and participating counties and cities. Assigned cases may include:

  • Individual Income Tax
  • Corporate Income Tax
  • Withholding Tax
  • Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT)

This role involves direct contact with taxpayers via phone and field visits to residences, places of employment, and business locations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to serving the public while promoting voluntary tax compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and manage assigned taxpayer accounts
  • Verify, gather, and update account information in multiple systems
  • Contact taxpayers by phone to resolve delinquent tax liabilities
  • Schedule and conduct field visits when necessary
  • Educate taxpayers on online resources and current tax policies
  • Negotiate payment arrangements
  • Promote voluntary compliance through financial review and documentation
  • Document all actions accurately in multiple systems
  • Participate in seizure and sale of assets/inventory when required, including:
  • Determining lien property
  • Analyzing asset value
  • Securing property
  • Preparing and conducting public auctions
  • Physically moving assets for sale setup
  • Meet performance metrics and participate in team engagement activities

Required Skills

  • Strong multitasking ability
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organized and goal-oriented
  • Ability to retain information and apply knowledge quickly
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

  • Spanish-speaking ability
  • Experience participating in process improvement initiatives

Required Experience

  • Previous two positions, each lasting at least one consecutive year
  • Experience in a fast-paced national call center environment
  • Industries such as finance/banking, insurance, or telecommunications (non-technical support)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
