Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field. Advanced clerical or paralegal experience in bankruptcy proceedings, tax collection, real estate or property appraisal may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis. A Paralegal Certificate may substitute for two years of the required education.

Recruitment Notes


Review and processing of litigation/challenge cases, eminent domain cases, forfeiture cases, proration cases, assignment cases, bankruptcy cases, filing probate claims and any other related work. Additionally, the paralegals file proof of claims in bankruptcy court and conduct research in cases where there are unpaid taxes of Real Estate, Tangible Personal Property, and Local Business Tax. The Paralegal shall attend bankruptcy hearings to present information, and keep parties informed of pending proceedings. Additionally, Paralegals will draft memorandums on litigation and challenge cases to assist the County Attorney’s Office in formulating a response to the complaint. The emphasis of the work is primarily on communicating verbally and in writing with the taxpayers and attorneys on the status of cases and issues that may arise during the pendency of the court case. Supervision is received from the Paralegal Supervisor and Division Director who reviews and discusses action to be taken on each case.
