Tax Compliance Manager

Umar Textiles, a leading manufacturer in Pakistan’s textile industry, is hiring a “Taxation Officer” to oversee sales tax, income tax, and withholding tax compliance in line with federal and provincial regulations. This role involves managing audits, filing returns, maintaining accurate records, and providing strategic tax advice to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of monthly/quarterly sales tax returns (Federal and Provincial) and income tax returns.
• Monitor compliance with FBR, PRA, SRB, and other provincial tax regulations.
• Reconcile sales tax ledgers with accounting records and manage input/output tax adjustments.
• Deduct and deposit applicable withholding taxes on salaries, contractors, services, and suppliers.
• Prepare tax challans, payment summaries, refund claims, and reconciliation reports.
• Handle notices, audits, and assessments from tax authorities, ensuring proper responses and documentation.
• Maintain updated tax records, including invoices, debit/credit notes, and statutory documents.
• Advise management on tax implications of business transactions, contracts, and procurement.
• Stay updated with changes in tax laws, SROs, and relevant regulations.
• Liaise with external consultants, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies for compliance and planning strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
• 4 to 5 years of relevant taxation experience, preferably in the manufacturing or textile sector.
• Strong knowledge of federal and provincial tax laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, accounting software, and tax portals (IRIS, PRA/SRB portals).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
