Tax Manager

At Tomishima & Fukuhara CPA, we are a boutique tax firm that has served our clients for over 50 years. We focus on delivering high-quality work while building strong, lasting relationships with our clients. We’re looking for a Tax Manager who is not only technically strong, but also communicates well, collaborates effectively with others, and naturally builds trust with both clients and our team.

Position Overview:

• Lead, mentor, and develop staff, including keeping the team current on tax law changes and guiding how those changes are applied and communicated to clients
• Serve as a main point of contact and advisor for clients
• Review complex individual, business, partnership, and trust tax returns
• Handle tax research and resolve complex issues
• Ensure compliance with federal and Hawaiʻi tax laws
• Manage workflow, deadlines, and quality control
• Review and adjust client books and workpapers; coordinate with bookkeeping to ensure accurate, tax-ready financials

Qualifications:

• 3+ years tax experience
• CPA or EA (or actively working toward certification)
• Strong knowledge of federal + Hawaiʻi tax
• Experience with complex returns and tax planning
• Organized, reliable, and client-focused
• Experience with UltraTax CS preferred

Work Hours:

• Generally, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Overtime during busy season or projects as needed

Compensation:

• Salary: $80,000 - $100,000, including tax season and year-end bonuses
