Tax Preparer / Accountant (On-Site) – Virginia Beach, VA

We are a locally owned tax and accounting firm based in Virginia Beach, serving businesses of all sizes with year-round accounting and payroll services. In addition, we prepare personal, business, estate and trust, and nonprofit tax returns for a diverse client base.

We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our team. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience preparing individual and business tax returns, along with at least two years of accounting experience. CPA, EA, or Registered Tax Preparer credentials are preferred but not required.

Applicants should be comfortable using computers and tax/accounting software in a professional office environment. Experience with ProSeries tax software and Sage 50 Accounting is highly desirable.

This is an on-site position located in Virginia Beach, VA. We are not offering remote work, so applicants should be local and willing to work in our office.

Our busiest time of year is tax season. During that period, work hours may increase, and some Saturday hours may be necessary depending on workload. Outside of tax season, hours may be reduced or scheduled on an as-needed basis.

The right candidate will be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to produce accurate work efficiently. The ability to work independently while maintaining a positive attitude is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also important.

Responsibilities may include:

Preparing individual and business tax returns

Performing tax research and applying current tax law

Completing accounting and bookkeeping assignments

Setting up new client accounts from beginning to completion

Assisting with administrative duties as needed

Communicating with clients to gather all needed documents and answers

Communicating with the IRS and state tax agencies on behalf of clients

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be discussed during the interview process. Salary is negotiable.

We are also willing to consider a qualified subcontractor interested in part-time or as-needed work.
