Tax Resolution Advocate (Enrolled Agent, CPA, Attorney)

Overview

This is an opportunity for professional who seeks to build a career in Tax Resolution, IRS administrative collections, tax controversy, and negotiation with tax authorities across multiple state agencies.

We are focused on 1-3 years' experience but we are open to all candidates and have roles available for varied experience levels.

As a Tax Resolution Advocate at Lifeline Tax Solutions, you will serve as the primary case owner and authorized representative for individuals and businesses facing active IRS and state tax enforcement. Your role is to take cases from distress to final resolution, navigating compliance issues, enforcement actions, and complex financial circumstances with professionalism, urgency, and empathy.

We are looking for candidates who have some experience or a background in tax and seek to learn through hands-on experience independently managing tax resolution cases, including direct IRS and state negotiations or are willing to grow into the role.

Core Responsibilities

As a Tax Resolution Advocate, you will:

  • Independently manage cases as the primary advocate and authorized representative (POA) before the IRS and state tax agencies.
  • Analyze IRS transcripts (IMF/BMF) for compliance issues and prepare Forms 433-A, 433-B, 656 with ancillary state financial statements.
  • Develop and execute resolution strategies including but not limited to, Installment Agreements (PPIA, Streamlined, Traditional, etc.), Penalty Abatements (FTA and reasonable cause), Offers in Compromise (OIC), and Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status on scale and effectively.
  • Conduct direct negotiations with IRS Automated Collection System (ACS), Revenue Officers, Appeals Officers, and state agencies
  • Prepare and submit resolution proposals, appeals, and supporting documentation
  • Manage active enforcement matters including liens, levies, wage garnishments, and passport certification issues
  • Clearly communicate complex tax matters to clients with empathy, professionalism, and accountability
  • Maintain proactive client communication across phone, email, SMS, and client portals while tracking deadlines and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or Attorney license in good standing
  • Active PTIN
  • Verified history of active representation with valid Powers of Attorney on behalf of clients and understanding of IRS, IRC, & IRM collections rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of CSEDs, enforcement matters (liens, levies, wage garnishments, FPLP) and mitigation steps to resolve issues.
  • High standard of accuracy, ethics, and client care
  • Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment with modern tax software, client portals, and workflow systems

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on tax resolution experience as a primary advocate
  • Experience with payroll tax matters and Trust Fund Recovery Penalty (TFRP), CAP Appeals, Collection Due Process (CDP) hearings, and state tax resolution experience.
  • Experience handling complex cases involving multiple businesses and individuals.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $51,500 – $70,000 plus bonus opportunities commensurate with verified experience and advancement opportunities within a growing organization

Pay: $51,500.00 - $71,000.00 per year
