Position Overview
The Taxation Expert is responsible for managing all tax-related matters of the organization, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. The role involves tax planning, tax return preparation, regulatory compliance, advisory services, audit handling, and strategic tax optimization.
The Taxation Expert plays a critical role in minimizing tax risks, avoiding penalties, ensuring accurate reporting, and aligning tax strategy with the organization’s financial objectives. Job location is "Gajjumatah".
Key Responsibilities
A. Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare, review, and file all direct and indirect tax returns accurately and timely.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation for tax filings and statutory requirements.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure company policies remain compliant.
- Calculate advance tax payments and ensure timely submission.
- Reconcile tax accounts with financial statements.
B. Direct Taxation (Income Tax, Corporate Tax)
- Prepare corporate income tax computations.
- Manage withholding tax compliance.
- Handle tax deductions and exemptions.
- Calculate deferred tax assets and liabilities.
- Provide tax planning strategies to optimize corporate tax liabilities.
C. Indirect Taxation (Sales Tax / VAT / GST)
- Manage sales tax / VAT / GST filings.
- Monitor input-output tax reconciliation.
- Ensure proper invoicing compliance.
- Handle tax adjustments, refunds, and claims.
- Coordinate with tax authorities regarding indirect tax matters.
D. Tax Planning & Advisory
- Develop tax-efficient business strategies.
- Provide advisory on mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and investments.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities within legal boundaries.
- Analyze financial transactions for tax implications.
- Advise management on risk exposure and compliance gaps.
E. Audit & Litigation Support
- Represent the organization during tax audits.
- Prepare responses to tax notices and assessments.
- Coordinate with external tax consultants and legal advisors.
- Maintain audit documentation and compliance records.
- Assist in dispute resolution and appeals before tax authorities.
F. Regulatory & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all statutory deadlines.
- Conduct internal tax risk assessments.
- Implement internal controls for tax processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and tax information.
G. Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with finance, legal, and operations departments.
- Prepare tax reports for senior management.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Assist CFO in strategic financial planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Professional certification preferred:
- CA (Chartered Accountant)
- ACCA
- CPA
- CMA
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant taxation experience (depending on seniority).
- Strong knowledge of national tax laws and international taxation.
