The Creekside School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) who present with moderate to severe behavioral challenges in a structured school-based setting. This role is ideal for someone experienced, patient, and committed to helping students thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role
You will work closely with Special Educators and school-based service providers to support students through individualized education and behavior plans that promote growth, independence, and emotional regulation.

What You’ll Do
  • Support students with autism and moderate to severe behavioral needs in a school setting
  • Implement IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and classroom supports
  • Use evidence-based strategies to support communication, regulation, and engagement
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Assist with classroom activities and community-based instruction
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with students on the autism spectrum and/or moderate to severe behavioral challenges in a school setting (required)
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Instructional Assistant, or Paraprofessional preferred
  • Strong understanding of behavior strategies and structured classroom support
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in high-intensity situations
  • Team-oriented, reliable, and proactive

Important to Know
This role involves working with students who may exhibit behaviors such as aggression, self-injury, or property destruction. Staff receive Safety-Care training and are expected to follow all safety protocols.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or related field preferred
