SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: $52,361 – $92,683 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance with five different plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, voluntary insurance options, and a supplemental life program. Employees are entitled to sick time, vacation time, bereavement days, holidays, and longevity pay. Flexible spending accounts (FSA) or healthcare savings accounts (HSA) are available based on the elected medical plan. Additionally, retirement savings plans are provided through the State of Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS). These benefits are available after just one full day of employment.

ROLE AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Teacher Consultant for the Visually Impaired provides instructional services to students with a visual impairment or students with a visual impairment in combination with additional disabilities ages 0-26. The Teacher Consultant for the Visually Impaired provides pre-referral and consultation services to students, parents and staff. Conducts evaluations and provides information for Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) meetings, Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), Individualized Education Planning Team (IEPT) and related agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Education: Master’s degree required for Teacher Consultant; Valid Michigan teacher certificate eligible for approval through the Michigan Department of Education with an endorsement in one or more areas of special education. Endorsement in Visual Impairment required. Certification in Orientation and Mobility preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of satisfactory teaching experience for Teacher Consultant; not less than two years of teaching the visually impaired preferred.
Skills/Other:
Knowledge and competencies in the following areas: consultative skills, instructional methods for the visually impaired, time management techniques, diagnostic techniques for the visually impaired, computers and technology for the visually impaired, team planning and organizational abilities. Ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district, constituent school districts and other agencies in the service area. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Demonstrates mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the administrative guidelines. Ability to use district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible workday, work week and work year. Represents the intermediate school district in a professional manner at all times. Works successfully as a member of the team.
