POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all youth activities. This includes active supervision of youth, ensuring a safe environment for all participants, program curriculum implementation, family engagement and communication with parents/guardians, and working with fellow staff including mentoring and coaching of Aides.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ensures child safety and health of youth at all times through proper supervision and active participation.

Actively supervises a group while maintaining ratio and utilizing the hands-free ID system.

When applicable, may provide active supervision of a group within water by maintaining ratio, proper distance according to swim level, and utilizing the hands-free ID system.

Implement curriculum and activities within established guidelines that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.

Maintain program areas and adheres to program standards in regard to equipment, storage, safety, and cleanliness.

Makes ongoing, systematic observations of each youth and reports information to lead staff.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, staff training, program activities, and family events (both on and off site).

Responsible for daily record keeping of and check in with lead staff while honoring confidentiality.

Familiarizes self and adheres to policies and procedures within the employee handbook and standard operating procedures for youth development and the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh.

Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective verbal and/or written communication with parents, youth, and other staff. Models relationship-building in all interactions.

Maintains compliance with all DHS and OCD licensing requirements and NAEYC and/or Keystone Stars and/or ACA Accreditation standards and training requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum age of 18.

High School Diploma/GED -and-
-
2 years experiences working with youth

-or-
-
30 Credit hours in ECE or related field

15 credit hours in ECE or related field -and-

1 year experience working with youth
