  • In this role, you will plan and deliver effective English lessons tailored to diverse learner needs, ensuring your teaching consistently meets British Council Global Teaching Standards.
  • You will track learner progress, provide meaningful feedback, and encourage learner autonomy, while actively engaging in professional development to maintain excellence in teaching and learning. As part of the teaching centre team, you will contribute to centre activities, course development, staff collaboration and local marketing initiatives, helping to deliver outstanding customer service and a positive student experience.
  • Building strong relationships with students and colleagues is central to the role, as is promoting intercultural understanding and awareness of UK values through classroom and out‑of‑class activities. You will also ensure all work aligns with British Council policies on safeguarding, equality and inclusion, data protection, special educational needs, and health and safety.

Essential qualifications.

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Cambridge CELTA and or Trinity Certificate TESOL (TEFLi) or equivalent.


Essential Experience:

  • 2 years post-certificate experience (TEFLi) (and/or equivalent to 1,200 hours).
  • As appropriate within the Global British Council Teaching Standards at Core or Higher Stage
  • Demonstrate subject knowledge
  • Engage and motivate learners
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Plan and deliver coherent lessons
  • Make use of assessment and feedback
  • Manage teaching and learning resources
  • Uphold professional responsibilities and values


Desirable:

  • Recognised diploma in English as a Foreign Language, e.g., DELTA/Trinity Diploma (TEFLq); Specialism where appropriate, e.g., YL qualification: TYLEC (or equivalent); PGCE/BEd in Primary or relevant subject.


Salary and other benefits:

  • Gross monthly salary: 25,750 EGP
  • Other benefits and allowances:
  • As per applicable laws, the British Council will deduct contributions from your EGP monthly salary at rates determined by the National Social Insurance Authority.
  • Annual leave allowance: 35 days per year of paid leave, plus a minimum of 14 public holidays
  • Medical Insurance: You and your family will be covered with the Council’s Group Medical Insurance, offering comprehensive co verage.

Role: Teacher of English

L ocations: Cairo (Agouza, City Stars), 6th of October, New Cairo, Alexandria, Egypt.

Contr act type: 1-year fixed-term contract

Worki ng hours: 37 .5 hours

Right to work in the country - This opportunity is open to Egyptian nationals only. Work permits can only be obtained via the British Council for Egyptian passport holders.


Only the shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the in-person Assessment Centres in Cairo or Alexandria as part of the selection process.


As teaching centre schedules are driven by customer demand, evening working hours will be required. Working patterns may vary and typically include work on Fridays and Saturdays .
