- Texas Education Code § 48.158 defines "classroom teacher as an educator who is employed by a school district and who, not less than an average of four hours each day, teaches in an academic instructional setting or a career and technology setting.
A ll salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees. The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service . These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Responsible for creating a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of at-risk students; establish effective rapport with at-risk students; provide at-risk students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. Enable at-risk students to develop competencies and skills to become a responsible citizen and function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements in at-risk student learning styles.
2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in at-risk student learning styles.
3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations to support at-risk students.
4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of at-risk students assigned.
5. Conduct assessment of at-risk student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
6. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for at-risk special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
7. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to District requirements in support of at-risk students.
8. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process for at-risk students.
9. Help at-risk students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
10. Conduct ongoing assessment of at-risk student achievement through formal and informal testing.
11. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of at-risk students.
12. Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials in support of at-risk students.
13. Establish and maintain openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers to support at-risk students.
14. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned - Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
15. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
16. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
17. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of North East Independent School District.
18. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
19. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
20. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
21. Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills.
22. Successfully complete all professional development training within established timelines as required by the Texas Education Agency and the District.
23. Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom State Compensatory Education (SCE) teachers.
24. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required SCE documents.
25. Maintain confidentiality of information.
26. Report to work on time every day.
27. Perform additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
- Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
- Valid Class "B" Texas Driver's License (Commercial) with a driving record that meets the requirements of the District - Employee must meet the standards set by the Texas Education Agency, Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Public Safety (This requirement is for those teachers assigned supplemental duties that require transporting students in District vehicles)
