Responsibilities:

Instructs students individually in accordance with identified needs
-
Consults with treatment team to ensure utilization of a behavior management system that is consistent with the system used in other program components
-
Works collaboratively and cooperatively with local school administration, teachers, and paraprofessionals.

Schedules eligibility/initial evaluations as needed
-
Works collaboratively with general education teachers to provide necessary services and supports.
-
Provides specialized instruction to support acquisition of grade level curriculum
-
Schedules Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed.
-
Maintains special education records/PowerSchool reports.
-
Completes Data Verification forms as needed.
-
Monitors and reports data for tracking systems.
-
Performs such other duties as assigned by the Special Education LEA, Special Education Resource Teachers or school system administrators.

Is responsible for planning and scheduling educational field trips and actively participates as required. May drive program vehicle during such trips
-
Identifies educational needs of consumers in preparation for summer tutorial services
-
Writes and makes available daily/weekly lesson plans so that other staff can provide appropriate instructions to students to continue the educational program in the teacher’s absence
-
Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation
-
Applies seclusion and restraint per AltaPointe Policy and Procedure, as required
Assesses educational needs of students on an on-going basis and makes appropriate adjustments to educational plans as needed:
-
Administers educational testing within 10 days of consumer’s admission to program and prior to student’s discharge
-
Develops and implements students’ Individualized Educational Plans
-
Completes an educational discharge summary and final report card at time of discharge
-
Provides both verbal and written consultation/progress reports to parents/guardians as needed
-
Ensures compliance of students’ educational records in accordance with guidelines established by the State Department of Education
-
Maintains awareness of current techniques and approaches to the educational process as they relate to the population being used
Carries out administrative duties in accordance with established schedules and procedures:

Determines classroom supplies and maintains sufficient supplies
-
Conducts meetings with classroom staff to address progress/problems and overall teamwork issues, as needed.
-
Maintains an effective professional relationship with all program staff as well as with all external contact made during the course of fulfilling job related duties
-
Appropriately delegates routine tasks to behavioral staff such that student needs can be met without disruption
-
Attends treatment team meetings as scheduled related to clinical planning and administrative issues
Performs liaison services with the local educational system for students at BayPointe:
-
Ensures that appropriate placement is made and that needed services will be provided to the student
-
Monitors the student’s adjustment to school placement and shares information with school/residential staff
-
Provides consult to school personnel regarding student needs through conferences, phone contacts and/or in writing as needed to support positive adjustment by the student following discharge from the facility

Arranges for and facilitates delivery of specialized services (e.g. speech) as identified by the IEP team

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in special education; Alabama teacher’s certification in Special Education (K-6, 6-12)
