Primary Purpose of Position
The Graduate College at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a
12-month, full-time, non-tenure-track teaching assistant/associate professor position . An
appointment at the teaching professor level may be considered for exceptionally
qualified applicants. The initial appointment of the position is two years and it is eligible for
renewal.
The successful applicant for the position will be expected to show commitment to teaching
excellence. She/he is expected to engage in culturally responsive teaching and high-impact
practices in teaching graduate-level professional development courses and workshops, advise and
mentor students, and provide service to the Graduate College, university, and professional
community.
Primary duties include but are not limited to teaching graduate courses, conducting tutoring and
supplemental instruction, serving as an academic advisor for students in a graduate certificate or
post-baccalaureate programs, supporting student success initiatives, and providing other academics ervices to The Graduate College, and the University. A candidate whose teaching and service efforts will promote the strategic vision of the Graduate College as well as the University is highly desired. Collaboration with colleagues from other programs and departments is expected.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution located in Greensboro, NC. The university is a member of the University of North Carolina system. The Graduate College coordinates and administers advanced programs and course offerings leading to 14 doctoral, 34 master’s and 19 certificate programs in collaboration with the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences; College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences; College of Business and Economics; College of Education; College of Health and Human Sciences; College of Science and Technology; College of Engineering; and the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering. Minimum Requirements
The applicant must have an earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution, have
outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, be collegial, and collaborate with supervisor,
faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
The successful applicant should have experience teaching graduate student professional
development courses or workshops. They should be familiar with culturally responsive
and sustainable best practices in teaching graduate students, recent student-centered active and
engaged learning strategies, and impactful practices in graduate course instruction and student
engagement, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high-quality customer service, and student success initiatives. The candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching diverse populations and have college/university-level teaching experience.
