Preferred Qualifications


Role Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisors, plans, directs, and coordinates activities for all respiratory care services provided including overseeing staffing and workloads. Fulfills all requirements and responsibilities of the RRT, demonstrating a high level of expertise and scientific knowledge including best practices and serves as a resource to others. Acts as a liaison with other departments to facilitate quick resolution of issues to ensure patients are provided safe and effective care.


Responsibilities

  • Holds self-accountable and seeks out opportunities for continuous learning and feedback and is able to perform multiple related duties, prioritizing and applying effective time management.
  • Provides oversight for daily respiratory care operational activities for a defined period of time that supports patient care. Determines proper level of staffing needs to project staffing plans for upcoming shift/shifts.
  • Performs and coordinates various diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures according to established standards, procedures, guidelines and policies. Applies respiratory knowledge and demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise serving as a resource to staff by providing guidance and education.
  • Effectively communicates by participating in the exchange of information including serving as a resource to others. Serves as a liaison between leadership, staff, medical team, patients and families.
  • Works effectively in a team-based environment especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities. Analyzes critical situations and applies appropriate judgment and critical thinking for problem resolution.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Assoc or CoARC Accredited Prog
  • Respiratory Therapy

Experience

  • 2-5 years

Licenses & Certifications

  • Basic Cardiovascular Life Sup
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • RRT

Preferred Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Business/related

  • No Experience

The work that I do as an ER, nurse contributes to the overall mission statement for BJC by providing patient advocacy, every patient that walks into BJC facility, we are there to advocate for the patient from the time they enter to the time that they are discharged. Second clinical excellence. Our goal is to provide excellent care for every patient that walks into a BJC facility. Third employee satisfaction. We, that is our goal to make sure that our employees are satisfied as well as our patients. So those three elements, clinical excellence, patient advocacy and employee satisfaction helps to contribute to the overall mission of BJC.
