Assistant Manager - Job Summary:

The Team Leader (Assistant Manager) is responsible for the front-of-house operations within his/her restaurant location. Primarily, he/she is responsible for developing, training, and monitoring the front-of-house team. The team lead takes an active role in service to properly demonstrate our service and operational standards while ensuring team members are adhering to those standards consistently. In addition, he/she supports the GM with the ordering and inventory of all front-of-house goods, maintaining an organized and clean facility, and overseeing the execution of service, food, and beverage. In addition, the AGM is expected to achieve cost control targets to ensure the profitability of the restaurant while also providing direct support to the General Manager.

Team Leader - Qualifications:

  • Weekend Availablity is a MUST
  • MUST Have Toast experience
  • Open Table experience a plus
  • Highly competent in standard restaurant practices and steps of service, as well as food and beverage
  • Fundamental culinary knowledge and proficiency, including food safety
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well in an environment with time constraints
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, performing work accurately and efficiently
  • Demonstrates superior communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to give clear direction
  • Ability to develop, implement and maintain systems for the restaurant team
  • Ability to effectively train and develop staff and build team morale
  • Ability to hold others accountable for following company standards and procedures
  • Ability to innovate and implement new ideas
  • Demonstrates practical leadership skills, including delegation skills
  • Ability to meet cost control targets (labor, cost-of-goods sold)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business levels

Human Resources:

  • Work in tandem with the General Manager to coach, counsel, and conduct performance evaluations of all front-of-house team members
  • Develop, train and mentor servers and bartenders
  • Recommend or conduct disciplinary action, including termination, of team members when necessary according to company standards
  • Instill company culture, build morale and create an ongoing positive work environment, using established as well as newly developed initiatives

Financial / Labor Costs:

  • Accountable for achieving COGS and labor cost targets on a monthly basis
  • Adjust schedule as needed to suit volume and maintain labor cost within provided targets
  • Forecast seasonal staffing levels, hiring, and attainment/retention of staff.

Service:

  • Take an active role in service and demonstrate for teammates the proper approach and attitude
  • Be willing to regularly fill each position on the service team to exemplify standards of execution
  • Conduct hands-on teaching and training, working closely with fellow managers and servers, to ensure service and quality control standards are being reinforced
  • Train and educate staff on new menu items and changes in procedures; monitor and hold staff accountable for retention of information
  • Ensure quality control and dish preparation/presentation standards are adhered to consistently by all team members
  • Lead team in the execution of opening and closing procedures

Administrative:

  • Ensure proper filing of all invoices, vendor paperwork, and employee paperwork
  • Submit nightly shift reports, injury/incident reports, and any other reports required by GM or DOO
  • Disseminate pertinent information, including menu updates, team transitions, and procedural changes to teammates

Meetings:

  • Attend monthly numbers of meetings and prepare with updates on kitchen team and operations as well as thoughtfulness towards cost control and profitability
  • Work with Assistant General Manager and Chef de Cuisine in orchestrating quarterly team meetings and biannual all-staff meetings

Team Lead-General Responsibilities:

  • Travel, as necessary, to different restaurant locations and HQ
  • Perform all reasonable requests from the executive team
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions
  • Follow proper time-keeping policies and procedures
  • Know and follow all company emergency and safety procedures

PAY TRANSPARENCY POLICY STATEMENT

Compensation for roles at Bacari varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to the specific client, office or remote location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Bacari provides a reasonable pay scale to include the hourly or salary range that Bacari reasonably expects to pay for roles that may be hired in California or as set forth below.

Salary: $80-82k/yr (with opportunities for bonuses)
