Job purpose

The Team Leader, IT Network & Infrastructure is responsible for leading and governing IT Infrastructure, IT Network, and IT Service Desk functions, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing enterprise IT services across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role drives availability, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness while ensuring efficient end-user support, seamless connectivity, and continuity of business-critical operations.

The position will act in accordance with the OQ8’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Infrastructure & Cloud:

Lead the architecture, design, and operations of enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring scalability, security, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness.

Identity & Security:

Oversee identity and access management (AD, Azure AD/Entra ID), ensuring secure, compliant access control and governance across all platforms.

Virtualization & Data Center:

Manage compute, virtualization (VMware), storage, and data center technologies, including capacity planning, lifecycle management, and performance optimization.

Backup & Disaster Recovery:

Ensure robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities aligned with RPO/RTO targets, including regular testing and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Networking:

Oversee enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring resilient, secure, and high-performing connectivity across all environments.

Operating Systems & Platforms:

Manage Windows and Linux environments, supporting performance, patching, and hybrid platforms including containers where applicable.

Service Desk & IT Operations:

Lead IT Service Desk operations, ensuring efficient incident and request management, high service quality, SLA compliance, and a strong end-user experience.

Governance & Vendor Management:

Act as the technical escalation point, manage vendors and service providers, define SLAs and operational models, and ensure successful delivery of infrastructure initiatives.

External: Staffing specialized Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site.

Education requirements

Minimum Qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

Minimum 10+ years in IT infrastructure within large enterprise setup. Experience in Oil & Gas sector is good to have, or relevant Field
5+ years in a senior/lead role covering data centre, cloud/hybrid, identity, networking, virtualization, storage, and HA/DR ready environments.
Proven experience designing and operating highly available, resilient infrastructure aligned to RPO/RTO targets.
Hands on expertise in Microsoft AD/Azure AD, VMware, Azure IaaS, SAN/NAS/Tape, Networking, Windows & Linux, and Enterprise Backup.
Experience leading teams, managing multiple vendors, and supporting 24×7 mission critical services.
IT Service Management Experience(ITIL-based): Applying basic ITIL processes (incident, request, change), to managing service performance and SLAs, and ultimately leading and optimizing end-to-end IT service delivery aligned with business objectives.
