Koniag IT Systems (KITS) is seeking a senior Technical Advisor to support our Defense customers, providing subject matter expertise, strategic guidance, and technical leadership to stakeholders responsible for Operational Technology (OT) supporting defense operations.
This senior leader role focuses on both customer support and corporate growth. For customers, this role advises senior leadership, program managers, and system owners on the design, modernization, cybersecurity, and risk management of OT environments across the defense enterprise. Additionally, this role supports growth opportunities related to OT and the broader Huntsville, AL market.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Defense stakeholders on the planning, governance, and evolution of Operational Technology (OT) capabilities supporting mission readiness and resilience.
- Act as a thought leader for OT within mission environments, shaping conversations on IT/OT convergence, mission assurance, and operational resilience.
- Advise customers and project teams on enterprise-level OT strategy, aligning technology investments with operational priorities, threat environments, and long-term defense objectives.
- Identify capability gaps, emerging mission needs, and future-state opportunities across OT portfolios.
- Support business development and growth initiatives for broader defense opportunities, with a focus on the Huntsville market, by advising on capture strategies, shaping requirements, and contributing to proposals
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with DoD customers, program offices, and industry partners to expand the company’s footprint
- Participate in customer discussions, industry days, and technical exchanges to position the company as a strategic OT advisor of choice.
Education and Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of progressive experience supporting U.S. Department of Defense programs, mission environments, or national security initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience serving in a strategic advisory, consulting, or senior technical leadership role influencing government decision-makers.
- Proven experience advising on enterprise modernization efforts, legacy system sustainment, and capability roadmapping rather than hands-on system administration.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition, requirements development, and governance processes
Clearance Requirement:- Active Secret security clearance required; Top Secret (TS/SCI) strongly preferred
