Technical Content Marketing Manager (Hybrid)

As a Technical Content Marketing Manager at MKS, you will partner with cross‑functional teams including Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Corporate Marketing to define, develop, and deliver high‑impact technical content that elevates our photonics portfolio and drives market engagement. You will lead a team responsible for producing high‑quality, technically accurate materials that help customers understand, evaluate, and apply our technologies. This is an onsite role based at our Irvine, California facility. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of Strategic Program Marketing responsible for strategic program marketing.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Leading and developing a team of technical writers, content creators, and subject‑matter contributors to ensure consistent, high‑quality output.
  • Working directly with engineers, scientists, and product managers to extract technical insights and translate them into clear, compelling content.
  • Overseeing the creation of application notes, white papers, product descriptions, technical guides, videos, and educational materials that support customer decision‑making.
  • Establishing content standards, review processes, and quality controls to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with brand and regulatory requirements.
  • Driving content strategy for product launches, campaigns, and ongoing lifecycle support, ensuring materials meet the needs of both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Using analytics and customer feedback to refine content effectiveness and identify new opportunities for technical storytelling.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Photonics, or a related field (as specified in the job description).
  • 5+ years of job‑related work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical content development and marketing within the photonics, optics, lasers, or related high‑technology industries.
  • Strong ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible, high‑value content for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience leading teams or managing content creators.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Photonics, Physics, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building photonics experimental setups, with direct use of both our products and competitive solutions to evaluate performance, tradeoffs, and application fit.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring cross‑functional teams responsible for developing high‑quality technical marketing content.
  • Demonstrated success supporting global marketing campaigns and product launches, collaborating with regional teams to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and market relevance.
  • Strong expertise in content creation best practices and digital content optimization, with an understanding of how technical depth, storytelling, and channel strategy drive customer engagement.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, execute, and deliver in fast‑paced, matrixed environments involving engineering, product management, and marketing stakeholders.

Supervisory Scope:

  • Reporting Relationships: Direct management of a team of technical writers and content specialists.
  • Financial Responsibilities: Oversight of content development budget and vendor relationships as applicable.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment with extended periods of computer use.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, or internal facilities.
  • Ability to participate in meetings, presentations, and collaborative sessions across global teams.

This position offers flexibility to work 3 days per week onsite and 2 days from your home office.

We are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we will not be sponsoring work visas for this position, at this time.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
