Our client is a business intelligence and data management company that helps organizations optimize telecom and technology services. They deliver visibility into service inventories, contracts, and billing to reduce costs and improve performance. You will support their Business Intelligence team to ensure clean, complete, and timely service data that powers decision making.
Why this role exists
This role acquires, validates, and maintains mission critical telecom and technology service data that feeds the client's BI reporting and optimization programs. By conducting proactive outreach to service providers, remediating data issues, and processing service changes, the Technical Data Analyst ensures data accuracy and continuity across systems. The outcome is reliable, actionable information that supports cost control, contract management, and service lifecycle decisions.
Responsibilities
- Data Acquisition & Provider Outreach
- Contact telecom/technology service providers by phone and email to obtain missing details (e.g., term dates, circuit IDs, addresses, voice numbers, pricing).
- Identify and reach the right provider contacts using provided lists, invoices, portals, and public resources.
- Track outreach activity and document dates, contacts, and responses.
- Data Validation & Record Remediation
- Review Excel/Smartsheet datasets to identify missing, inconsistent, or duplicate entries.
- Validate against invoices, provider communications, and internal documentation.
- Standardize formats (IDs, numbers, addresses, dates), merge/remove duplicates, and flag issues for BI review.
- Data Entry & System Updates
- Enter newly gathered information into designated workbooks and Smartsheet project sheets.
- Update service attributes (location, provider, service type, contract status) following defined validation rules.
- Double check updates to maintain >99% accuracy.
- Service Change & Disconnect Processing
- Submit requests to move services to month to month terms or prevent auto renewal as instructed.
- Identify services for disconnection, initiate termination, track status, and confirm billing cessation.
- Update records with new statuses and effective dates.
- Task Management, Reporting & Collaboration
- Maintain clear task tracking and logs in Smartsheet for all outreach, updates, and service requests.
- Provide weekly summaries of progress, outstanding items, disconnect activity, and escalations.
- Partner with BI, Customer Success, and Account Services; respond to on demand data requests.
Qualifications
- 2+ years in technical support and/or data analysis within telecom/technology services or a closely related domain.
- Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, data validation, de duplication) and accuracy working with large datasets.
- Hands on experience with Smartsheet or similar project/data tracking tools.
- Proven experience conducting professional phone/email outreach and validating data against invoices/portals.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication; available to work Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. CST.
- WFH Set Up
- Computer with at least 8 GB RAM, an Intel i5 core processor/AMD Ryzen 5 Processor and up.
- Internet speed of at least 40 MBPS.
- Headset with an extended mic that has noise cancellation and a webcam.
- Back up computer and internet connection.
- Quiet, dedicated workspace at home.
