Role Overview:

The Technical Director leads strategic and operational oversight of R&D, recipe management, and quality control within Agrumaria Reggina. This role drives innovation, ensures product integrity, and enforces compliance with industry standards. With direct leadership of technical teams and dotted-line supervision of production scale-up, the Technical Director plays a pivotal role in aligning technical excellence with business growth.

In your role you will :

• Define and lead the technical strategy for product innovation, quality excellence, and scalable operations.
• Make strategic decisions on formulations, process design, and technology investments to support business growth.
• Align technical objectives with commercial goals, fostering cross-functional collaboration across departments.
• Lead and mentor teams in R&D, Quality Control, and Recipe Management, setting KPIs and conducting performance reviews.
• Oversee the full product development lifecycle, from concept to market launch, ensuring technical readiness.
• Manage recipe governance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, cost optimization, and traceability.
• Ensure quality control and regulatory compliance, making final decisions on deviations, corrective actions, and supplier approvals.
• Provide strategic oversight to the Production Scale-Up team, approving plans and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in food science, process engineering, quality systems, and sustainable manufacturing.
• Lead cross-functional technical decision-making, driving innovation, process optimization, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has:

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or a relevant discipline. A master’s degree in the same field is a plus.
• 10-15 years of relevant experience, with strong leadership experience (more than 5 years of leadership experience).

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with ERP/MES systems, data-driven decision-making, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
• Experience with global markets, regulatory compliance, and crisis management (e.g. recalls, supply chain disruptions).
• Background in R&D innovation, patent/IP management, and collaboration with academic or research institutions.
