Your Role
Our team is seeking a seasoned and recognized technical expert to help lead our Workplace teams in delivering unparalleled projects including, but not limited to, production, technical oversight, project profitability, marketing/business development, client satisfaction and employee growth and development. You will leverage your industry experience and technical acumen to drive client projects from concept through build.
The Technical Director at Gensler plays an extremely important role in the delivery of design. It is important that these leaders become well versed in the Gensler design culture, Gensler CAD/Revit platforms, Gensler specifications, Gensler production & construction administration standards, and the Gensler contracts & project management standards. It is a very demanding role where success is created by the efforts of a highly motivated and unique individual.
What You Will Do

Lead the technical effort of projects and ensure overall technical quality of work across the studio

Provide guidance to project teams and solve complex issues

Oversee technical aspects of projects to be sure they are in concert with project scope, design, budget, client goals, consultant coordination and core requirements (QAQC)

Provide mentorship and lead technical educational programs for studio members
-
Collaborate with other technical leaders across the office, region, and firm to ensure the firm’s technical standards, guidelines, and best practices are being applied

Mentor and support on construction administration processes

Lead construction administration on various project as well as mentor juniors through the construction administration process

Specification writing
-
Review of bid and provide comments or feedback to Project Manager and client

Review of CD cartoon set or assist junior in creating cartoon set. Find efficiencies in CDs and details. Guide team on difficult details

Lead engineering coordination and train junior designers
-
Comment on CD and CA schedule for RFPs
-
Comment on engineers fees for RFPs
-
Build analysis and comments for RFPs
-
Alongside other technical directors in the office, take the lead in mentoring and training staff members in developing Revit and 3D software skills
Your Qualifications
-
Extensive experience in workplace interiors required and prior management experience leading technical design of project teams
-
Bachelor of Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 12 years of experience

Revit skills essential
-
Excellent communication and management skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively with staff members and clients
-
Superior conceptual technical design ability
-
Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
Your Design Technology Qualifications
Essential
-
Familiarity with the BIM project lifecycle through design, construction and operational phases.
-
Experience in establishing and managing BIM teams for project design and delivery.
-
Experience in managing design teams with Revit/Rhino/Grasshopper skills.
-
Understanding of BIM deliverables and terminology in contracts.
-
Deep understanding and expertise with collaboration in the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detection.

Good knowledge and experience with interoperability workflows between Rhino & Revit throughout all the stages of a project.
Desirable
-
Basic understanding and familiarity with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows.
