Technical Document Controller – Site-Based (MEP / ELV)

Location: Ras Al Khaimah, UAE – 100% On-Site

We are seeking a highly competent Technical Document Controller with an engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, or ELV) and a minimum of 2 years of engineering/document control experience. This is a site-based, technical role supporting the QA/QC processes, ensuring meticulous document control, tracking, and integration of engineering instructions (EIs), submittals, WIRs, NCRs, and other critical project documentation.

The ideal candidate is technically proficient, highly organized, and capable of interpreting and coordinating MEP, electrical, and ELV drawings, specifications, and site reports. Applicants must have advanced computer literacy and familiarity with document management systems such as ACONEX or FORTIS.

Key Responsibilities

Document Control & Management

• Maintain, organize, and manage all project documents in compliance with QA/QC protocols.
• Implement rigorous version control, monitoring approval workflows for all technical documents.
• Track, distribute, and retrieve submittals, RFIs, WIRs, NCRs, and other project-related documentation.
• Prepare and maintain logs for transmittals, inspection trackers, and site reports.
• Assist QA/QC teams during audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inspections.

Technical Coordination

• Review, interpret, and overlay MEP, electrical, ELV, and construction drawings in response to Engineering Instructions (EIs).
• Ensure engineering instructions are incorporated accurately into IFC and shop drawings.
• Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, and QA/QC teams to validate site feasibility and report conflicts or constraints.
• Maintain accurate traceability and documentation of revisions, approvals, and technical feedback.

Reporting & Communication

• Compile progress reports, site observation reports, and technical submission packages.
• Provide clear, detailed, and structured reports for project managers, QA/QC managers, and client representatives.
• Communicate effectively with site teams, inspectors, and contractors to ensure document compliance and timely updates.

Advanced Computer Skills & Tools

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with advanced skills:
• Excel: KPI dashboards, Gantt charts, pivot tables, and conditional formatting
• Word: Structured reports, templates, headings, tables, charts, and proofreading
• Experience with ACONEX, FORTIS, or similar document management platforms (preferred).
• Ability to maintain structured digital filing systems, track document revisions, and generate automated reports.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or ELV Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 2 years of professional engineering experience.
• Minimum 1 year of document control experience, preferably in MEP, construction, or technical services projects.

Technical Competencies:

• Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection workflows, and documentation standards.
• Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate MEP, electrical, ELV, and construction drawings.
• Familiarity with project submission processes, revision control, and traceability.
• Strong attention to detail and high-level organizational skills to meet project deadlines.

Other Requirements:

• Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• MOFA-attested educational documents (mandatory).
• Valid UAE driving license with willingness to travel to project sites.
• 100% on-site availability in Ras Al Khaimah.
