Technical Draughtsman

Job Purpose

To prepare accurate and detailed technical drawings, plans, and layouts based on specifications and design inputs. The Technical Draughtsman ensures all technical documentation supports efficient project execution, fabrication, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Create detailed technical drawings and plans for manufacturing, construction, and installation using AutoCAD or other CAD software.

Translate design concepts, sketches, and verbal instructions into precise technical drafts.

Prepare shop drawings, including layouts, sections, elevations, and detailed component drawings.

Ensure drawings comply with relevant technical and industry standards.

Coordinate with engineers, architects, and designers to clarify design requirements and incorporate necessary revisions.

Update and revise existing drawings to reflect changes in design or project scope.

Maintain an organized repository of technical drawings and related documentation.

Conduct site visits or review site photos to gather measurement data and incorporate real-world constraints into drawings.

Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications with high precision.

Assist in preparing documentation for project submissions and approvals.

Support production teams by providing clear, concise, and correct drawings for fabrication and installation.

Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure drawings align with project requirements and timelines.

Report any design discrepancies, material concerns, or technical issues to the relevant team members or managers.

Adhere to project deadlines and company standards for quality and accuracy.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during site-related drawing preparations.

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Set

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field.

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in technical drafting, preferably in construction, interior fit-out, or manufacturing industries.

Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of other design tools such as Revit, SolidWorks, or SketchUp is a plus.

Strong knowledge of technical drawing standards, materials, and construction methods.

High attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts if required.
