AYYA Design Haus is seeking a Technical Interior Designer who is passionate about the technical, project management, and operational side of interior design. This role focuses heavily on FF&E support, vendor coordination, and technical documentation, ensuring that design visions are translated into organized plans, accurate orders, and well-executed installations.

You will work closely with the Creative Director and Operations Lead, supporting the development and execution of projects through strong organization, technical precision, and clear communication.

This role is ideal for a Chicago-based junior designer who enjoys the intersection of design, logistics, and problem-solving, and who is eager to gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of a design project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FF&E Coordination & Procurement Support

  • Support vendor communication and maintain professional relationships with showrooms, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  • Research and source materials, furnishings, and finishes while requesting samples and swatches from vendors.
  • Assist with order placement, order tracking, and delivery coordination to ensure items arrive accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain and update FF&E schedules, procurement spreadsheets, and vendor documentation.
  • Organize and manage sample libraries, material boards, and digital project folders.
  • Track procurement timelines and proactively communicate updates to the team.

Technical Support & Documentation

  • Assist in producing and updating technical drawings using AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Support the development of floor plans, elevations, and design documentation.
  • Help ensure design concepts translate into clear and feasible plans for vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and documentation standards across projects.

Presentation & Design Support

  • Support the creation of client presentations and design boards.
  • Assist with organizing materials, imagery, and specifications for project presentations.
  • Attend client meetings when needed and assist in documenting meeting notes and action items.

Project Coordination & Site Involvement

  • Coordinate schedules, spreadsheets, and procurement timelines to support the progress of each project.
  • Attend site visits to measure, document progress, and support installation coordination.
  • Communicate clearly with vendors and the internal team to ensure information flows smoothly.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail across documentation, orders, and timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field (Preferred, but will consider experience in lieu of degree)
  • Experience in AutoCAD & SketchUp required
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing spreadsheets, schedules, and procurement tracking
  • Strong attention to detail when managing orders, drawings, and documentation
  • Comfortable communicating with vendors, showrooms, and project collaborators
  • Eager to learn, ask questions, and develop strong technical design skills
  • Candidates must be based in the Chicago area.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

WORK STRUCTURE

This role is primarily remote, as AYYA Design Haus currently operates without a dedicated studio. However, this role requires periodic in-person involvement within the greater Greater Chicago area, including:

  • Site visits
  • Vendor meetings
  • Client meetings
  • Material & sample coordination

BENEFITS

As Technical Interior Designer, you will be eligible to participate in all of the Company’s employee benefit programs, on the same terms and conditions as these programs are available to other full-time employees of the Company in a similar job position as you, subject to the conditions of these plans.

You will receive a monthly health care stipend of $260.00 to contribute toward the cost of an individual health care plan that you secure independently. This contribution is subject to change depending on individual or family package. This section is subject to change based on market conditions.

Paid Time Off (PTO): You will be entitled to 10 working days of paid time off per year.

Company Holidays: In addition to PTO, you will receive 14 paid company holidays per year, observed as outlined below.
