A Fit-Out Technical Engineer plays a critical role in managing and executing interior fit-out projects (such as commercial offices, retail stores, hospitality spaces, etc.). Their primary responsibility is to ensure that all technical aspects of the fit-out project meet design specifications, client requirements, and regulatory standards.
Key Job Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
- Review architectural and engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with architects, designers, and site engineers to clarify project requirements.
- Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare shop drawings, as-built drawings, and technical submittals in coordination with the design and project teams.
- Provide technical support to site teams and ensure proper implementation of fit-out works.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
- Assist the project manager in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and adherence to design intent.
- Identify potential technical issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Support procurement team with technical evaluations of materials and equipment.
- Maintain documentation and records related to project engineering activities.
Technical Supervision
- Monitor all technical aspects of fit-out works to ensure adherence to design and quality standards.
- Verify that materials and installations conform to specifications.
Site Management
- Conduct site inspections and supervise daily activities.
- Resolve technical issues that arise during construction or installation.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain project documentation, including daily reports, technical submittals, and inspection requests.
- Report progress and technical issues to project managers and clients.
- Attend coordination and progress meetings.
- Manage project close-out documentation including as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company quality standards, health & safety regulations, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct regular site checks to ensure compliance with HSE standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of technical engineering experience in fit-out, contracting, environments.
- Proven experience in executing fit-out projects (commercial, residential, hospitality, or retail).
- Strong knowledge of interior finishes, joinery, coordination, and construction details.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and other engineering/design software.
- Excellent technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
- Available locally in KSA and can join immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in architecture and construction, with a strong background in fit-out projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in CAD, Revit, BIM, and other architectural software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience working in the Gulf region, preferably Saudi Arabia.
- Familiar with local regulations, municipality approvals, and site procedures in KSA.
