Technical Manager - Branch

We are currently recruiting for an Technical Manager for our client to be based out of their Dubai office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Underwriting & Risk Control:

• Implement and enforce company underwriting strategy, risk appetite and authority (Treaty) limits at the branch level.
• Review, approve, and monitor complex large and high-risk accounts across non-motor and motor lines (as applicable).
• Ensure underwriting decisions are technically sound, commercially viable and compliant with regulatory and internal policies.
• Control accumulation, exposure management and portfolio quality to maintain target loss ratios and profitability.
• Identify underwriting gaps, adverse trends and corrective actions.

Broker & Corporate Account Oversight:

• Manage and oversee key broker relationship and major corporate accounts from a technical and underwriting perspective.
• Support negotiations on terms, conditions, pricing, deductibles and coverage structures.
• Participate in high-level meetings with brokers, corporates and strategic partners.
• Ensure broker submissions meet required technical and underwriting standards.

Reinsurance Coordination:

• Work closely with Reinsurance Department and H.O on treaty and facultative placements.
• Prepare and review reinsurance submissions, slips details, and risk presentations.
• Ensure timely referral of risks requiring reinsurance support or H.O approval.
• Monitor reinsurance utilization and compliance with treaty terms.

Technical Governance & Compliance:

• Ensure full compliance with the UAE insurance regulations, internal underwriting manuals and delegated authorities.
• Acts as the branch focal point for technical audits, underwriting reviews and regulatory inspections.
• Maintain proper documentation, underwriting files and risk approvals.

Team Leadership & Technical Support:

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and oversight to underwriters and technical staff.
• Review underwriting decisions to ensure consistency and quality across the branch.
• Support training initiatives and contribute to technical upskilling of the team.
• Enforce underwriting discipline and escalation protocols.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Finance or a related field is required
• 10+ years of underwriting experience, with strong exposure to corporate and broker-driven portfolios.
• Professional insurance qualifications (ACII, CPCU, or equivalent) preferred.
• Proven experience working with reinsurance, H.O technical teams and authority frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of UAE insurance market practices and regulatory environment
