Technical Office Engineer ( Wood/ furniture industry)

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Technical Office Engineer specializing in wood flooring and furniture, located in Dokki, Giza.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing technical drawings, shop drawings, material take-offs, and coordinating between design, production, and site teams for wood flooring and furniture projects. Ensures accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Drawings & Shop Drawings

  • Prepare detailed shop drawings for:
  • Wood flooring layouts (parquet, HDF, engineered wood, etc.)
  • Custom furniture (kitchens, wardrobes, doors, cabinetry)
  • Review and revise drawings based on site conditions and client feedback
  • Coordinate with design team to convert concepts into execution drawings

2. Quantity Surveying & BOQs

  • Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
  • Calculate material requirements (wood, veneers, accessories, hardware)
  • Optimize cutting lists to reduce waste

3. Coordination

  • Coordinate with:
  • Production/workshop team
  • Site engineers and installation teams
  • Procurement department
  • Ensure drawings match site conditions and client requirements

4. Material & Technical Specifications

  • Select suitable materials (solid wood, MDF, HDF, plywood, finishes)
  • Ensure compliance with project specs and quality standards
  • Review technical submittals

5. Project Support

  • Track project progress and deadlines
  • Assist in resolving technical issues on-site
  • Provide technical solutions for design or installation challenges

6. Documentation

  • Maintain drawing logs and revisions
  • Prepare as-built drawings after project completion
  • Archive project documentation

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Interior Design / Wood Technology (preferred)

Experience

  • 2–5+ years in:
  • Furniture manufacturing OR
  • Wood flooring / interior finishing

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Wood materials & finishing systems
  • Furniture detailing and joinery
  • Software:
  • AutoCAD (essential)
  • SketchUp / Revit (plus)
  • Excel (for BOQs)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings

Soft Skills

  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Good communication with site & factory teams
  • Time management

Preferred Background

  • Experience in:
  • Custom furniture factories
  • Interior fit-out companies
  • Flooring contractors

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From E£15,000.00 per month
