About the Role:
The Technical Product Owner is a seasoned product and technical leader with extensive expertise in key technological and business domains. This role is pivotal in driving the development and delivery of innovative technical products that fulfill our clients’ needs and align with our strategic business objectives. You will oversee the roadmap and backlog for a Product Engineering Team managing multiple products and stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure the successful execution of product strategies.
  • Own the technical product strategy and roadmap for a portfolio of products and capabilities. Work closely with technology and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and sponsorship.
  • Lead quarterly planning and alignment of deliverables against company strategic objectives/goals.
  • Own the product backlog, including intake and regular grooming with stakeholders and Product Team. Accept Features and User Stories completed by the Team and ensure they meet the needs of the Business.
  • Own and drive stewardship of agile practices, including Quarterly Planning, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Retrospectives and Daily Stand Ups.
  • Regularly report on team performance, health and business impacts of Features/User Stories delivered.
  • Actively participate in industry events (e.g., financial and technology conferences), publish white papers, host webinars and much more to help advance the technology brand of the company.
  • Provides active leadership and mentorship in technology best practices, methodology and other relevant areas across Teams and the company.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
  • Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

About You:
  • HS Diploma Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, MIS, Finance, Business or related field or relevant work experience preferred.
  • 4-7 years of technical bank operations experience required.
  • Knowledge of project management with Microsoft Project, bank operations, HR systems (as applicable), bank products, and mortgage, installment, and commercial loans. Extensive familiarity with financial institution computer and operating system features and third-party products.
  • Knowledge of user acceptance testing methodologies, principles, and practices of process development and implementation along with comprehensive banking/business unit system, software, and applications.
  • Intermediate PC program skills with experience with Excel, data warehouse products, and other similar systems. Familiar with troubleshooting internet connectivity and browser issues. Ability to handle complex problems to achieve department goals.
  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills for a variety of audiences (both technical and non-technical). Ability to analyze problems of a technical nature with high accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to accurately document problems and resolutions.
  • Possess a high level of analytical ability to understand sophisticated programs/systems for resolving business problems. Ability to respond promptly to customer needs. Ability to handle difficult or emotional customer situations.
  • Ability to set goals and objectives, prioritize and plan work activities using time effectively, meet deadlines and commitments, and work independently with little or no directional guidelines from manager.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
