The Senior Manager of Technical Program Managers leads a specialized TPM team responsible for delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives that enable scalable growth, campaign performance, lead lifecycle automation, and operational excellence across Web, Marketing Ops, and Revenue ops teams.
This leader brings strategic clarity, execution rigor, and strong technical and martech fluency, ensuring that Avalara’s digital marketing systems operate cohesively and evolve rapidly to support business priorities.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior-level Technical Program Managers supporting marketing technology, web platforms, data integrations, and operational programs.
Provide coaching on execution excellence, stakeholder alignment, measurement, and cross-functional communication.
Drive career development, performance management, and engagement within the TPM organization.
Foster a culture of transparency, predictability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee a portfolio of high-impact marketing technology and digital experience programs (e.g., website modernization, marketing automation improvements, data quality initiatives, personalization enablement, attribution and analytics enhancements).
Establish program governance mechanisms for intake, prioritization, quarterly planning, and status reporting across marketing and engineering.
Partner with Marketing leadership to translate business strategy into executable technical roadmaps with clear milestones, KPIs, and success definitions.
Proactively identify dependencies, risks, and capacity constraints—offering mitigation plans and driving alignment across teams.
Collaborate closely with AvaTech, Corporate Web, Data Engineering, Product, Demand Generation, Brand, and Revenue Operations to ensure seamless execution of cross-org initiatives.
Ensure alignment across marketing-specific systems, engineering platforms, and Avalara’s broader architecture.
Support marketing stakeholders by simplifying complex technical concepts and enabling informed decision-making.
Drive clarity and structure in ambiguous environments by establishing repeatable frameworks and communication pathways.
Implement and enhance processes for project planning, Agile ceremonies, dependency mapping, risk management, and issue escalation.
Champion data quality, integration stability, security, and compliance across marketing-related systems and workflows.
Ensure that technical decisions align with Avalara’s enterprise architecture, security, and scalability standards.
Lead post-mortems, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring lessons are captured and applied across programs.
7+ years of Technical Program Management experience with a strong record of delivering cross-team technical initiatives.
3+ years leading TPMs or similar technical program delivery roles.
Excellent executive-ready communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and drive alignment across Marketing, Engineering, and Revenue organizations.
Proven ability to bring order and execution rigor to ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Experience working in B2B SaaS, compliance, or data-intensive platform companies.
Familiarity with enterprise marketing tech stacks, including CMS, automation tools, personalization engines, and marketing data ecosystems.
Experience supporting global web operations or high-traffic, multi-site digital environments.
Prior leadership responsibility in environments with high availability, security, and regulatory considerations.
Predictable and high-quality delivery of marketing technology and digital experience initiatives.
Clear communication and strong alignment between Marketing, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Improved efficiency across MarTech systems, integrations, and data pipelines.
Increased throughput and reliability of the Corporate Web and Marketing Ops program portfolio.
Higher team engagement within the TPM org and satisfaction among marketing and engineering partners.
