The Project Technical Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of capital and process improvement projects that enhance operational performance, quality, and cost efficiency. Serving as the technical lead within the plant, this role partners across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to implement new technologies, upgrade production systems, and ensure reliable, safe, and sustainable manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of capital and process improvement projects, from concept and scope development through installation, commissioning, and post-startup support.

  • Partner with corporate engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to design, procure, and implement new equipment, production lines, and infrastructure improvements.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing throughput, yield, and reliability while reducing waste, downtime, and energy consumption.

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and technical services to ensure all project work meets company standards for safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and status reports; identify and mitigate project risks to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate new systems and processes into existing operations with minimal disruption to production activities.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, materials, and automation solutions that support innovation, efficiency, and sustainability goals.

  • Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials to ensure successful project handover and long-term asset reliability.

  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, GMPs, and OSHA/EHS guidelines throughout all project phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

  • 7–10 years of experience managing technical or capital projects within manufacturing, packaging, food, or paper industries.

  • Demonstrated success leading plant-based capital projects, including line installations, equipment upgrades, or process optimization initiatives.

  • Strong technical understanding of thermoforming, extrusion, converting, or printing operations.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project (or equivalent project management tools), and ERP systems.

  • Proven leadership ability with experience managing cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; adept at problem-solving in dynamic production environments.

  • PMP certification, Lean Six Sigma training, or equivalent process improvement expertise preferred.

  • Working knowledge of sustainability practices, energy efficiency, and modern automation technologies is a plus.
