General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate technical work providing hardware and software support and assistance to personal computer
users in County departments, assembling computers, installing necessary software, training and assisting users or
troubleshooting the personal computer, monitoring and answers help desk calls, assisting with county network systems,
and related work as apparent or assigned.


Essential Functions:
• Prepares, installs, and supports appropriate software for new PC's, Laptops, iPads, Tablets, iPhone, and Android

devices for all end users and disposes of old devices for County Departments.

  • Answers and handles helpdesk phone calls to evaluate and resolve technology issues; creates work tickets when an
issue cannot be solved over the phone and distributes to appropriate IT professionals for analysis and resolution.
  • Supports and manages print servers and end devices for printer; performs internet protocol (IP) addressing for new
printers and copiers; configures print preferences per department and configures scan-to-email on larger machines.
  • Analyzes major issues that affect other departments; diagnoses root cause and composes knowledge-based articles
on how to fix said issues; collaborates with higher level TSC employees on issues that affect multiple users.
  • Assigns and administers Multi Factor Authentication accounts so that users can use a virtual private network (VPN) to
access the County’s network from off-site locations.
  • Supports a wide variety of applications when replacing old devices.
  • Creates and assigns accounts to new users as well as assigns them an email; assigns permissions to said account,
creates mainframe logins for the user, and ensures access to appropriate mapped file shares.
  • Supports daily operations in the print room as needed; prints daily mail and dockets; runs backups and runs offloads
of County data so that it writes to tape backups.
  • Assigns each device a tag number for inventory purposes and makes sure to properly dispose of only tagged devices
when necessary.
  • Provides operational support on all applications and hardware to aide in the mobility of all end users.
  • Attends classes, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay abreast of new technology, industry practices,
etc.


Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associates/Technical degree with coursework in information technology, computer science, or related field.
Experience: Moderate (1+ years) experience installing and repairing computer hardware and software, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
