Job Title: Technical Specialist, Medical Image Sharing & Integration

About the Project: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Specialist to play a pivotal role in a landmark national medical image sharing project. This initiative is designed to revolutionize how medical images are exchanged across the country, enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the Siemens technical team, ensuring the seamless integration and interoperability of various healthcare imaging systems nationwide.
Position Summary: As a Technical Specialist, you will leverage your deep technical expertise in PACS, RIS, and healthcare interoperability standards to support the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of a robust, secure, and efficient national image sharing network. This role demands hands-on experience in large-scale system implementation and integration, with a strong focus on ensuring the secure and efficient exchange of medical imaging data. You will work closely with the Siemens team and diverse healthcare stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Integration & Development:
- Architect, develop, and maintain robust HL7 and DICOM integrations between diverse systems, including Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Vendor Neutral Archives (VNAs), and Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
- Create and optimize scripts for data transformation, validation, and migration, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data exchange.
- Proactively identify and resolve complex interface logic issues, enhancing system interoperability.
- Implementation & Deployment:
- Lead and actively participate in the full lifecycle deployment of imaging and interface solutions across multiple healthcare facilities.
- Collaborate closely with hospital IT teams, clinical staff, and Siemens technical experts to ensure successful, timely, and compliant project delivery.
- Develop and execute detailed implementation plans, test cases, and go-live strategies.
- System Administration & Support:
- Provide expert-level technical support and administration for the national image sharing platform, including PACS and related imaging applications.
- Proactively troubleshoot complex workflow issues, system outages, and performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal system uptime and reliability.
- Implement and maintain robust security protocols and access controls to protect sensitive medical imaging data.
- Standards & Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to national and international healthcare standards, including DICOM, HL7, and IHE profiles (e.g., XDS-I, XCA-I).
- Maintain comprehensive compliance with data privacy and security regulations such as HIPAA, implementing best practices for secure data handling.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, or a closely related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in PACS/RIS administration, healthcare integration, or radiology IT engineering, with a proven track record in large-scale projects.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth proficiency in DICOM and HL7 standards, clinical imaging workflows, and extensive experience with interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Orion).
- Solid expertise in Windows Server environments, SQL/PostgreSQL databases, and robust knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls).
- Integration Experience: Demonstrable experience in architecting, developing, and implementing complex integrations between PACS, RIS, VNA, and EHR systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Standards: Familiarity with modern interoperability standards such as FHIR and DICOMweb.
- Siemens Systems: Experience with Siemens Healthineers imaging platforms, such as syngo.via, syngo.plaza, or the teamplay Digital Health Platform.
- Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud-based imaging solutions and familiarity with best practices for cloud deployment and security.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP), ITIL Foundation, or vendor-specific credentials from Siemens or other major PACS vendors.
- National Projects: Prior experience working on national or large-scale regional health information exchange (HIE) or image sharing projects
