Transit Maintenance Supervisor / Trainer

Lead the mechanics who keep a modern transit fleet moving.

We are seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty / Diesel Maintenance Supervisor or Trainer to oversee and develop technicians working in a state-of-the-art transit shop with lifts in every bay and a fleet that includes diesel, hybrid, and Battery Electric Buses (BEBs).

This role supports mechanics and plays a critical part in maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Position Summary

The Transit Maintenance Supervisor / Trainer provides technical leadership, hands-on training, and daily shop oversight for heavy-duty and transit mechanics in a 24/7 operation.

This position ensures technicians are properly trained in diagnostics, emerging vehicle technology, and OEM repair procedures while maintaining high performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support heavy-duty / diesel mechanics
• Provide hands-on technical training and mentoring
• Assist with complex electrical and mechanical diagnostics
• Oversee repairs on diesel, hybrid, and Battery Electric Buses
• Ensure proper use of OEM diagnostic software (Cummins Insite, Volvo/Mack, etc.)
• Reinforce safety compliance and preventive maintenance standards
• Support scheduling and workflow coordination in a 24/7 operation
• Help implement ongoing in-house technical training programs

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years heavy-duty, diesel, or transit maintenance experience
• Advanced electrical and diagnostic troubleshooting skills
• Strong understanding of schematics and OEM software
• Previous leadership, lead tech, or mentoring experience preferred
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License (CDL or ability to obtain)
• Ability to work in a 24/7 operation

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Master or Heavy Vehicle certifications
• Experience working with Battery Electric Bus (BEB) systems
• Previous shop foreman, lead technician, or maintenance supervisor experience
• Experience training or developing technicians

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
