Technical Writer – Job Description
eSpark Talent is seeking a skilled Technical Writer responsible for preparing comprehensive and high-quality technical documentation that supports the successful development and use of our products. This role will involve close collaboration with developers, QA engineers, product managers, and UX teams to ensure all documentation is accurate, clear, and aligned with project objectives. The selected candidate will also prepare Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), and other essential technical deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and edit technical documentation including reference manuals, product manuals, user guides, and procedural documents.
- Prepare structured BRDs, FRDs, and other project-specific documentation as required.
- Determine the most suitable documentation format and structure based on project needs.
- Work closely with engineers, programmers, and project managers to understand product functionality, processes, and documentation requirements.
- Research product samples and system behavior to gain a thorough understanding of features and workflows.
- Analyze and tailor documentation to meet the needs of the intended audience, adjusting tone, terminology, and complexity accordingly.
- Plan documentation tasks, establish timelines, and manage deadlines effectively.
- Collaborate with design teams to create diagrams, flowcharts, and visual aids that enhance user understanding.
- Incorporate feedback from customers, designers, and internal teams to improve clarity and usability of documents.
- Review, proofread, and edit documentation produced by colleagues to maintain quality and consistency.
- Maintain documentation repositories and ensure information architecture is clear, organized, and up to date.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in technical writing, particularly in software documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 2 – 3 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, understandable text and visuals.
- Excellent English proficiency, speaking, listening, and writing with strong grammar and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other documentation tools.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather information and define documentation requirements.
- Ability to produce professional, high-quality documentation that meets industry standards and serves its intended audience effectively.
- Experience writing user interface text, online help, developer guides, and tutorials.
- Ability to analyze content for reuse, consistency, and single-sourcing opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Ability to present complex data concisely and clearly.
