Technician- Fire Protection

Yanbu, Saudi Arabia

Specialty:

  • Sound knowledge on fire engineering & life safety inspection and audit.
  • Sound knowledge on relative codes and standards such as SBC (Especially 201 & 801), IBC, IFC, HCIS and NFPA standards.

Education Degree:

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical/Architectural engineering disciplines.

Technical knowledge:

Conducting inspections, enforcing fire safety codes, and ensuring compliance with fire prevention regulations, ensuring that all fire protection and life safety systems are compliant with applicable regulations.

Experience:

Minimum 05 to 10 years’ experience in relevant Position.

Primary Functions:

  • Analyses existing protection measures and designs up-to-date fire protection systems.
  • Inspect fire protection equipment and such as extinguishers, hoses, reels, hydrants, fire blankets, exit lighting, fire and smoke doors, gaseous fire suppression systems, passive fire and smoke containment systems and foam generating equipment systems as per Saudi building code and NFPA standards.
  • Conduct inspection to ensure compliance with all relevant National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes and standards or equivalent standards.
  • Conduct functional tests and inspections on the following: Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Fixed Fire Suppression Systems and on portable fire extinguishers to ensure that the standards are met and maintained.
  • Carry out inspection of constructions works to ensure that fire safety is not compromised, and that standards are maintained or improved.
  • Produce detailed reports of fire inspections performed with any faults or code violations observed and corrective recommendations offered, or any necessary additional work required.
  • Conduct fire code compliance follow-ups to ensure the corrective actions have been implemented in the cases where violations were found.
  • Conduct follow up inspections to rectify faults observed/reported by staff which are outside of the Fire Protection Services department.
  • Carry out a "Quality Assurance" function by conducting spot inspections to ensure that the relevant National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes and standards or equivalent standards are maintained.
  • Performing risk assessments and developing strategies to mitigate
  • fire hazards in different environments.
  • Developing and implementing fire pre-plan.
  • Investigating fire incidents.
  • Lead fire drills program.

Technical Expertise:

Certified fire protection specialist (CFPS) certification or Equivalent Preferred.

Fluent English and local language skills
