Technician I

JOB Lee County is looking for a motivated Technician to join our team and help keep our Transit fleet running safely and reliably. In this role, you’ll perform preventive maintenance, complete essential repairs, and support diagnostic work alongside experienced senior technicians. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in accuracy and efficiency, and are eager to grow your mechanical skill set, we’d love to hear from you. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES What You'll Do

• Perform regular maintenance on transit vehicles, including inspections, changing fluids and filters, lubricating parts, and rotating tires.
• Check steering, suspension, and brake systems to make sure they are working safely.
• Replace basic parts like belts, hoses, batteries, alternators, starters, water pumps, and cooling system parts.
• Use diagnostic tools to read fault codes and perform simple electrical tests.
• Help senior technicians find and fix problems with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, HVAC, and multiplex systems.
• Fill out work orders correctly, including labor time, parts used, and repairs done.
• Report any other problems or needed repairs to a supervisor.
• Understand basic gasoline and diesel engine functions, air brake systems, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Work Schedule: Four (4) shifts weekly, 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM
