Location: Pagosa Springs Medical Center – Pagosa Springs, CO. This position is based on-site at Pagosa Springs Medical Center.
Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a detail-oriented Technician I: Materials Management. This position supports the effective management and distribution of materials and supplies necessary for hospital operations. This role is responsible for receiving, storing, and disbursing supplies used throughout the facility while ensuring adherence to established organizational policies and procedures.
The Technician assists departments with annual asset inventory processes and supports the maintenance of PAR level systems to ensure appropriate supply availability. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate storeroom inventory levels, coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, and supporting the upkeep of supply item records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
In addition, the Technician collaborates with hospital departments to provide guidance related to inventory management, expiration tracking, and supply utilization, while fostering positive working relationships with internal staff to support efficient and reliable materials management operations.

Receives all deliveries, unpacks each package, and determines the appropriate department for distribution.

Receives packing slips with PO within the EHR system to allocate inventory and monies to each department appropriately.

Maintains a working knowledge of a majority of the materials and supplies in the hospital and departments.

Educates staff regarding proper use of requisitions, non-catalog requisitions, and batch charge entry applications.

Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to ensure all operations (i.e., shipping and delivery) meet quality and safety standards.

Exhibits attention to detail and the ability to carefully follow procedures and maintain accurate documentation.

Displays proficiency to determine volume use of items and alter volumes as needed.

Assists with ordering and purchasing supplies and equipment for all departments within PSMC.

Manages inventory, outdates, and PAR system to ensure adequate stock on hand to uphold patient care needs in all departments.

Creates supply chain management strategies that increase efficiency and speed.

Optimizes storeroom functions.

Ensures verification of invoices against original orders to establish compliance with all conditions of purchase before payment.

Assists with inventory counting for departments on an annual basis.

Properly disburses all materials to various locations in the warehouse and facility.

Makes corrections, deletions, and adjustments to quantities of materials stocked in relation to the PAR level replenishment systems throughout the facility.

Fills requisitions from those departments not automatically replenished.

Checks all documents for accuracy prior to the processing packing slips, etc.

Interfaces directly with staff members at the user departments to determine need of additions or deletions in relation to the PAR level systems.

Maintains all areas of materials storage in a neat and organized manner.

Forwards information pertaining to critical back-order situations to the Technician II: Materials Management and/or the Director: Controller.

Prepares items for return shipment in conjunction with the user department and materials management.

Maintains all equipment utilized in transporting materials in a manner that ensures reliable and safe operation.

Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties.

Performs other job duties and special projects as assigned by a supervisor.

Pursues professional growth and maintains specialized knowledge and skills in materials management by participating in professional organizations and/or ongoing continuing education/in-service training with emphasis in supply management for hospital practice.

Assists the Finance Department as support for making daily deposits.

Enters and posts journal entries (JE's) as needed on a monthly basis.

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum of one year experience in purchasing, receiving and/or distribution.

Knowledge of medical supplies and clinical background is strongly desired but not required.

Current AHA BLS (Heart Saver) certification required

Strong data collection, analysis, and interpretation skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and reporting tools, electronic health records

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Work is performed in an office/warehouse/hospital setting with frequent interruptions. Noise level is moderate.

Daily collaboration with clinical and administrative staff. Daily communication with patients, families, employees, vendors, and/or the public.

Base Compensation Range: $18.00 - $22.38 hourly, based on years of relevant experience. "Relevant experience" means relevant to the employee's responsibilities set forth in the job description as determined by the HR Manager, CAO, applicable department manager/director and applicable senior leader.
