We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Metrology Technician in our Energy division to perform a variety of activities, with a focus in metrology and component inspection, in support of the Target Fabrication Group at LLNL in Livermore, CA. This work will be focused on components and targets for the National Ignition Facility, the world’s largest laser system, in support of leading edge fusion and high energy research and the driving the scientific basis of national security efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Operates computer controlled and manually operated metrology stations and provides dimensional inspection data on micron and millimeter-scale components.

Requires regular use of computers, instrumentation, multi-axis assembly stations, microscopes, and metrology equipment including Optical Coordinate Measuring Machines.

Interacts with resident staff and other engineering, scientific, and technical personnel from a variety of laboratory organizations.

Performs measurement tasks in a class 100 cleanroom including:

Complex measurements on individual components and assemblies.

Interprets and executes standard technical operating procedures.

Target base, subassembly, and final target dimensional metrology.

May be required to perform high vacuum leak testing of components at cryogenic temperatures.

Handles and inspects high value and extremely fragile components.

Diagnoses and corrects operational problems or trouble sources in equipment or tests.

Assists in maintenance of metrology equipment.

Inspect and measure prototype components from engineering prints, informal drawings and sketches.

Provides accurate and organized documentation of measurements and processes.

Collaborates with a diverse team involved in process improvement projects.

Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Monitors all operations for regulatory and safety compliance.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.
