Role Summary:

The Motorcycle Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of powersports vehicles, primarily motorcycles, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and high quality standards. This role requires specialized technical knowledge, adherence to safety procedures, and a commitment to providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate diagnosis of mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults on motorcycles using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Execute all types of repairs, including engine overhauls, gearbox repairs, braking system maintenance, and chassis adjustments.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and scheduled services (minor and major) according to the service manual checklist.
  • Document all work performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings accurately on job cards or the dealership management system (DMS).
  • Ensure the highest quality of workmanship, adhering strictly to manufacturer standards and specifications.
  • Complete assigned jobs efficiently and within the allocated time.
  • Conduct thorough road tests of vehicles post-repair to ensure all issues are resolved and the motorcycle is operating safely and correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Participate in continuous technical training provided by the manufacturer or company to stay current with new models, technologies, and repair procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with the Service Advisor regarding job progress, required parts, and any additional faults found.
  • Handle and maintain all workshop tools and equipment, including specialized diagnostic tools, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working order.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on experience as a Motorcycle Technician, preferably with branded powersports vehicles.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of motorcycle systems.
  • Certification: Technical certification or diploma in Automotive/Motorcycle Technology is highly preferred.
  • Tools: Proficient in the use of standard and specialized workshop tools and computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Attributes: Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality.
