Technician – Patient Handling & Support Equipment

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Technician – Patient Handling & Support Equipment, based in Doha, Qatar. The Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing patient handling and support equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety. Additional responsibilities include conducting preventive maintenance, diagnosing issues, assisting customers with proper equipment use, and maintaining detailed service records. Collaboration with the team and adherence to safety protocols are essential aspects of the role.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electronic equipment
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of patient handling and support equipment, preferably in hospitals or healthcare facilities.
  • Knowledge of patient handling and mobility support devices
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic customer service skills to provide guidance and support to clients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site environment and adapt to various client needs
  • Experience in healthcare equipment or a related field; prior experience in Doha is a plus
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in hospital equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals and service documentation.

Qualifications

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of patient handling and support equipment including hospital beds, birthing beds, cribs, surgical tables, examination tables, bariatric beds, therapy chairs, stretchers, and trolleys.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines and hospital maintenance plans.
  • Diagnose faults and perform corrective maintenance, including replacement of components such as actuators, control panels, wheels, brakes, motors, hydraulic systems, and electronic controls.
  • Ensure equipment complies with hospital safety standards and operates safely.
  • Conduct testing and functional checks after maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
  • Coordinate with biomedical engineers, nursing staff, and facility management for servicing and support.
  • Identify and report spare parts requirements.
