Technician/Rigger

Job Summary:

The Technician – Tower Erection Works is responsible for the assembly, erection, alignment, and installation of telecom towers and associated structures. The role involves physical work at heights, operating lifting equipment, and ensuring that all tower erection activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the erection of ground-based and rooftop telecom towers (monopoles, lattice towers, guyed towers).
• Assemble tower sections, mounts, platforms, ladders, and safety equipment.
• Perform rigging and hoisting operations for lifting tower sections and antennas.
• Ensure accurate alignment and plumbness of erected structures.
• Follow safety procedures, including use of PPE and fall protection systems.
• Perform torqueing of bolts and tightening as per engineering specifications.
• Conduct inspections of tower components before and after erection.
• Report progress and any anomalies or hazards to the Site Supervisor.
• Maintain site cleanliness and secure tools and equipment.
• Support in installation of antennas, feeder cables, and grounding if required.
• Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and other site personnel.

Requirements:

Education:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• High school certificate with relevant experience may be accepted.

Experience:

• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in tower erection or similar fieldwork.
• Experience in telecom, power transmission, or broadcasting towers is preferred.

Skills:

• Knowledge of tower erection tools, rigging, and safety practices.
• Ability to work at heights and in challenging weather/site conditions.
• Understanding of basic structural drawings and specifications.
• Physical fitness and manual dexterity.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Work at Height Certification
• Tower Climbing Safety Training
• Rigging & Lifting Safety Training

Work Conditions:

• Field-based job; extensive travel and stay at project sites may be required.
• Exposure to outdoor environments, weather conditions, and heights.
• Rotational shifts depending on project timelines.

Health & Safety:

• Strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines.
• Mandatory use of PPE and safety harnesses.
• Participation in safety drills and toolbox talks.
