Summary

Responsible for designing and documenting telecom network systems covering IP/MPLS, SDH/PDH, DWDM, and related communication technologies. The role involves preparing high-level and detailed engineering designs, ensuring compliance with project standards, and coordinating with implementation and commissioning teams for seamless network deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys and prepare detailed design reports covering telecom, fiber, and auxiliary systems.
  • Lead the design of integrated telecom racks/enclosures, including equipment layout, power terminations, grounding, and fiber routing.
  • Develop High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents for backbone and access networks.
  • Design and document telecom network topologies - including IP/MPLS, SDH/PDH, Ethernet, and DWDM connectivity.
  • Perform optical budget analysis, link design validation, and interface mapping between telecom and protection/SCADA systems.
  • Define service interfaces for Teleprotection, SCADA, RTU, PQMS, voice, and other OT/IT applications.
  • Coordinate with Network SMEs, Commissioning, and Electrical teams during design and implementation.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards (IEC, ITU-T, IEEE, MEF, ISO) and project specifications.
  • Prepare and update As-Built drawings, equipment lists, and BoQs.
  • Support preparation of factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) documentation and design verification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Good understanding of telecom systems, optical connectivity, Ethernet interfaces, and synchronization (IEEE 1588v2, SyncE).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Visio, and standard office and designing tools.
  • Familiar with telecom and utility communication standards (IEC 61850, IEC 62443, ITU-T, etc.).
  • Good analytical, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • UAE driving license will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in telecom system or integrated rack/enclosure design for utility, power, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects.
  • Hands-on experience in multi-technology design (IP/MPLS, SDH/PDH, Ethernet).
  • Experience preparing technical drawings, BoQs, and documentation for large-scale telecom and control system installations.
