Telecom Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunication Engineer to deliver telecommunication system design for major rail infrastructure projects in Sweden. The role involves designing and integrating telecom systems that support safe and efficient rail operations, ensuring compliance with Swedish and European standards.

• Design and develop telecommunication systems for rail projects, including:
  • Fiber optic networks
  • Copper cabling
  • Radio systems (GSM-R, LTE, FRMCS)
  • Data transmission and IP networks
• Prepare schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using industry-standard tools.
• Ensure compliance with Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) standards , EN standards , and project specifications.
• Coordinate with signaling, power, and civil teams to ensure seamless integration of telecom systems.
• High-and low-level design in railway telecom systems/ sub systems like PA/PIDS, CCTV, Radio systems, Microwave, IP Telephony system, Access control system (ACS), FO cables, patch panels, SDH, Data network, OSP/ISP cabling, Network Management systems (NMS) and Telecom block diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedule, location plans, cable routing layouts, equipment specifications / data sheets /Technical Bid Evaluations.
• Quality Control and Quality Assurance of the design and drawings.
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to BIM integration for telecom assets .
• Provide technical support during design reviews and client meetings.

• Technical Skills & Competencies: -

• knowledge and experience of design projects of railway telecommunication for CCTV, PAS, PIDS, OFC network, IP Telephony, Access control, CTC/OCC Systems for Railway networks.

• Familiar with related telecommunication standards as well railway related standards (EN50121-4 (EMC), EN 50126 (RAMS), EN 50129), telecommunication and preferably railway design engineering methodologies.

• Experience in reading and understanding technical requirements.

• Willing to work as team member in international projects in multi-cultural environment.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in telecom design for rail or transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with Swedish and European rail telecom standards .
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in telecom design tools and CAD/BIM, microstation, OpenRail platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of GSM-R, IP networking, fiber optics, and radio systems .
• Other Skills:
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within deadlines.
