Position Summary
The Telemedicine Physical Therapist provides high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy services through a secure telehealth platform for employees and patients referred through occupational medicine programs. This role focuses on injury assessment, rehabilitation planning, ergonomic guidance, and return-to-work conditioning for workers’ compensation, post-offer employment, and wellness clients.
The therapist collaborates closely with clinic providers, case managers, and employer representatives to ensure continuity of care and compliance with company protocols and state practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care & Evaluation
- Conduct virtual physical therapy assessments for patients with musculoskeletal or occupational injuries.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, emphasizing functional recovery, workplace safety, and injury prevention.
- Provide guided tele-rehabilitation sessions including exercise instruction, postural correction, and range-of-motion monitoring.
- Document findings, progress, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with company and state guidelines.
- Educate patients on self-management techniques, ergonomic adjustments, and return-to-work expectations.
2. Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and case managers to coordinate care plans and progress updates.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews for complex or delayed recovery cases.
- Communicate professionally with employer representatives and insurance adjusters regarding patient restrictions, progress, and work readiness.
- Refer patients to in-clinic or specialty therapy when in-person evaluation is required.
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Adhere to HIPAA and telehealth privacy standards at all times.
- Maintain compliance with state licensure laws and continuing education requirements.
- Follow company policies, documentation standards, and occupational health protocols.
- Participate in internal audits, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master’s in Physical Therapy (MPT) required.
- Active, unrestricted state license(s) in physical therapy, with multi-state licensure preferred.
- Telehealth certification or prior telemedicine experience preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in physical therapy, preferably with orthopedic, occupational, or industrial rehabilitation populations.
- Experience with work-related injury management, ergonomic assessment, and functional capacity evaluation is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical reasoning and ability to assess functional status via telehealth.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and patient-education skills.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and video-based telehealth platforms.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of independent decision-making.
- Comfortable managing patient load remotely while maintaining quality and compliance.

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
