Exciting opportunity available for a fully remote personal injury defense law firm that is growing in California.
Position Purpose: Provides support to attorneys by monitoring case status and completing required actions and assignments. Paralegals draft legal documents, perform legal and factual research, ensure that documents are timely filed with courts, review, analyze and summarize documents and information and communicate with clients, insurance claims professionals, court personnel, expert witnesses and opposing counsel and their support staff. Paralegals represent the Firm by supporting attorneys and providing outstanding customer service and accurate follow-through actions for all inquiries and referrals.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Proactively monitors status of pending cases and communicates with attorneys as to case status and suggested actions to move cases forward to conclusion.
· Drafts, reviews and edits legal documents, including but not limited to Pleadings, discovery demands and responses, discovery motions, Answers, Demurrers, Motions to Strike, Motions for Summary Judgment, correspondence, subpoenas, etc.
· Reviews and analyzes information, including documents provided by clients, client representatives, and other parties and their counsel.
· Inputs information regarding parties, case status and assigned tasks into case management software.
· Answers questions and supplies detailed information.
· Follows through on client needs through coordination of services.
· Assists with engagement and consultation with expert witnesses.
Qualifications/Experience:
· Associate’s degree in a related field (such as legal assisting, law enforcement, or human services)
· Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a California Personal Injury Defense Paralegal.
· Ideal candidate will be able to answer questions or research for answers that other paralegals or support staff may have.
· Must have experience with the entire California Litigation process and be able to train others and help develop training whenever necessary.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate over the phone.
· Must be able to effectively proofread documents and provide an excellent work product.
· Must be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent research, analytical and above average computer skills and knowledge.
· Must have experience billing insurance carriers for work performed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $60.00 per hour
