Job Description Summary
The Temporary Operations Assistant is a part-time position reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The Operations Assistant works closely with other professionals to administer and manage a comprehensive residence life and housing program serving 4000+ on-campus students. The Operations Assistant aids in the daily operations of the Angelou Hall central office and provides administrative support to the units within Residence Life and Housing. This temporary position will start at the beginning of March and conclude at the end of April.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
Serving as a backup to the full-time Operations Assistant, this staff member will assist with and, at times, be the primary person responsible for the following:
  • Assist in the operations of the Angelou Hall office including opening, closing, and maintaining the office's security through prompt customer service.
  • Serve as initial office contact, greet visitors, answer multiple phone lines, respond to general email questions, and provide information to callers and visitors.
  • Provide administrative assistance to all areas of RL&H and assist with various project-related tasks as assigned.
Other Functions:
  • Assist in the review of the department’s website.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • High school diploma with one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service in person and via phone.
  • Ability to utilize resources to disseminate information as a function of customer service.
  • Ability to communicate with various constituents, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures established.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience in higher education and/or property management preferred.
Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for their work only.
Physical Requirements:
  • Light walking.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying equipment up to 30 lbs.
  • Bending, stooping, reaching and climbing.
Environmental Conditions:
  • No adverse environmental conditions are expected.
