The Seasonal Summer Worker supports the Facilities Department during the summer recess period. This is a general labor and support role that encompasses a wide variety of physical, trade-support, and administrative tasks across District facilities. Assignments will vary based on the District's summer project priorities and may include painting, groundwork, moving and logistics, and clerical support. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, physically capable, and comfortable taking direction in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

SHIFT TIMES: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm
PAY RATE: $18.00 per hour
START DATE: June 2026 - August, 2026 (Dates to be determined)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties will be assigned based on operational need and may include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
Painting & Surface Preparation:

Prepare surfaces for painting including sanding, scraping, cleaning, patching, and masking.

Apply primers, latex paints, and epoxy coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.

Perform precision cut-in work around ceilings, baseboards, trim, and door frames.
-
Maintain a clean staging area and properly clean and store tools and equipment daily.
Moving, Logistics & Setup:

Move and rearrange furniture, classroom equipment, and supplies between rooms and buildings.

Assist with delivery and setting up of tables, chairs, and equipment for events or room reconfigurations.

Load and unload materials, supplies, and deliveries as needed.
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance:

Perform general grounds maintenance including litter pickup, weeding, and light landscaping.

Assist with exterior painting, power washing, and building touch-up work.
-
Support preparation of athletic fields, play areas, and parking lots as directed.
Administrative & Clerical Support:

Assist with data entry, filing, scanning, and organization of maintenance records and project documentation.

Help update and maintain the District Facilities and summer project schedules.

Respond to basic communications and route requests to the appropriate staff as needed.

Support inventory counts and supply ordering processes under supervisor direction.
Safety & Site Standards:

Adhere to all safety guidelines including ladder safety, PPE use, and chemical handling protocols.

Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all District sites.

Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly secured and stored at the end of each shift.

Report any safety hazards, accidents, or incidents to a supervisor immediately.
Required Knowledge & Skills:

Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor for up to 8 hours per day, including standing, lifting, climbing, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Adaptability: Willingness and ability to take on a wide variety of tasks across multiple locations and disciplines as priorities shift throughout the summer.

Reliability: Ability to follow a structured 10-week project schedule with consistent attendance and punctuality.

Attention to Detail: Takes care in completing tasks thoroughly and correctly, whether performing finishing work or entering data.

Teamwork: Works cooperatively with Facilities staff, Custodial teams, contractors, and school administrators.

Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with email and basic data entry preferred for candidates who may assist with administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent (or currently enrolled and at least 18 years of age).

Must pass a standard criminal background check (required for all K-12 environments).

Valid driver's license required for travel between District facilities.

Ability to work a consistent schedule Monday through Friday during the summer session.
Preferred:
-
Previous experience in painting, construction, general labor, or building maintenance.

Experience in a school, municipal, or institutional facilities environment.

Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.

Prior clerical or administrative experience a plus for candidates interested in office support assignments.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors across multiple District facilities. Conditions may include exposure to paint fumes, dust, and cleaning chemicals. Proper PPE will be provided. Work assignments may change daily based on project needs. Travel between buildings using a District or personal vehicle is required.
