Job Description Summary
Teach state approved courses in the Airframe and Power Plant Applied Technology programs. Teach assigned classes and laboratories according to the schedule. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Show students the actions necessary to perform a skill.
Climb and descend stairs in an aircraft on a weekly basis to instruct students. Assemble, build, calibrate, measure, fix, grind, torque or mend for practical, hands-on demonstrations.
Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Maintain and update curriculum to ensure alignment with FAA regulations and evolving industry and student needs.
Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
Maintain relevant relationships with the aviation industry. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
Committee work and service to the college and community.

Knowledge of precise actions students are to perform and ability to describe the end result of these efforts.
Ability to climb and descend stairs in an aircraft to instruct students.
Ability to assemble, build, calibrate, measure, fix, grind, torque or mend for practical, hands-on demonstrations.
Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/ outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.
Knowledge utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate in Applied Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field.
Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certification.
Five (5) years of work experience in the Aviation Maintenance field.
-OR-
Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certification.
Ten (10) years of work experience in the Aviation Maintenance field.
Preferred Qualifications
FAA Inspection Authorization.
Successful college teaching experience is preferred.
Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
