Terminal Manager

Job Overview

The TM is responsible for the overall day-to-day activities of the terminal including pricing requests, scheduling appointments, assigning drivers, dispatching drivers, order entry, and assisting the team on any issues the arise throughout the day. Success in this position is based on building trust with the drivers and the customer base, planning and executing capacity, and honestly and timely communicating any issues to the drivers and the customers. Time management and prioritizing tasks throughout the day are also essential.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Reviewing and responding timely to customer pricing and capacity requests.

· Monitoring imports and export orders on hand and understanding capacity to assist customers with short lead orders.

· Accepting and tracking all new orders sent by customer base.

· Daily tracking of all import containers

· Confirming with corporate office to verify customers are set-up with ARL, and if not able to obtain credit.

· Planning next day load schedules for drivers, which includes scheduling deliveries/pick-ups, and driver load assignments.

· Entering all orders at time of dispatch with accurate pricing, driver pay, and all necessary information for the drivers to execute their duties.

· Effectively keep track of where shipments are dropped and ensure they are returned within the timeline specified by the customer.

· Provide all the drivers with their requirements for them to start their next day before 10AM in the morning to ensure drivers have time to build boxes in between runs, if necessary.

· Respond to customer inquiries within a reasonable amount of time – this must be a commonsense approach. Urgent inquiries need faster responses versus a pricing request, as an example.

· Develop honest, trusting and lasting relationships with the drivers as well as the customers, each in their own unique way. But must always remember, the drivers are our first customer.

Qualifications

· 3-5 years’ experience in driver dispatch or terminal manager role, Intermodal experience is a major plus.

· Proven ability to develop relationships with excellent communication skills.

· Multi-tasking is naturally a big part of this job, but being able to continually reprioritize based on the urgency required is also equally as important.

· Short term memory skills and organizational capability.

· Basic Microsoft office skills, email, along with experience using basic Excel functions.

· Must be able to work in a team environment

· Defusing difficult situations and being a thick skinned in our industry is a must.

Pay: $64,361.89 - $77,511.09 per year
